UCI Names 57 Men's and Women's World Tour and Professional Teams for 2025

Pro cycling in 2025 will look much the same as this year, with all current men's and women's WorldTour teams and men's professional teams registered with the International Cycling Union.

The UCI also announced the first registrations for women's professional teams, a category that will be introduced for the women's peloton starting in 2025. They are Arcare B&B Hotels, Cofidis, EF Education Autry, Leyboral Kutsa-Fundacion Euskadi, Saint Michel Mavic Ober 93, and Volker Wessels.

Dutch team Winspace Orange Seal received conditional registration, subject to the submission of additional documentation by December 20, 2024, bringing the number of professional women's teams to seven.

There will be some name changes in the men's peloton, but the teams will remain the same, and all 18 world teams and 17 professional teams will remain.

Lotto loses Dstny and will fight simply as Lotto in 2025. Bingor WB becomes Wagner Bazan WB in 2025, and TDT Unibet becomes Unibet Tietema Rockets. The Collatec-Vini Fantini team is renamed Toscana Factory Team Vini Fantini, and Porti's second naming sponsor changes from Cometa to Visit Malta.

On the World Tour, the only change is that Astana has signed a lucrative naming deal with Chinese carbon manufacturer XDS. The team missed the October registration deadline, but was given an extension to complete the paperwork by January 15, 2025.

The UCI also recognized Lotto and Israel Premier Tech as the top two pro teams for 2024, earning automatic invitations to all World Tour events. Uno-X Mobility was invited to all World Tour one-day races as third place.

EF Education Autry and Volker Vessels earned automatic invitations to all WorldTour races in 2025 as the top two non-WorldTour teams in the 2024 UCI women's rankings.

For WorldTour teams at the bottom of the UCI rankings, next season is the most important as the three-year promotion/relegation cycle comes to an end. After an infusion of funds, XDS Astana has acquired 13 new riders and said goodbye to 14, the largest turnover in the league.

The team hopes riders such as Diego Ulissi, Fausto Masnada, Sergio Igita, and Mike Tunissen will turn around the team's fortunes, as they languish in 21st place in the combined 2023 and 2024 point standings, 18th more than 5,000 points behind Cofidis.

Arkea B&B Hotels also has to worry about relegation, as it is just outside the top 18, pushed down by the strong performances of Lotto and Israel Premier Tech.
