Confirmed: Primoš Roglic Targets 2025 Giro d'Italia and Tour de France with Red Bull-Bohra-Hansgrohe

Red Bull-Bora-Hanslohe announced today at its training camp in Mallorca that it will compete in both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France in 2025.

As a warm-up race, Roglic also confirmed that he will compete in the Volta ao Algarve in February and the Volta a Catalunya in March, but admitted that he will most likely not aim for victory in the former.

Head sport director Rolf Aldag announced the news at a press conference at the start of the team camp, confirming that Dani Martinez will play an important role as GC support for Roglic in both the Giro and Tour.

“First the Giro, but fortunately Primosch [Roglic] agreed with the idea of targeting the Giro d'Italia in conjunction with the Tour de France,” Aldag told the assembled media in Mallorca.

“We, on the team side, were working with the performance team on ideas about what is possible and what is doable. And, of course, we take into account the riders' opinions. This time we had a very good agreement and understanding of what, how, and why.

“In the Tour de France, Primozh will be the leader. Dani Martinez is also planning to do the double and will be joined by more riders. We know how important the climbs are and the Tour will be decided there.

This will be the Slovenian's first Giro appearance since winning the overall and the maglia rosa in 2023. Roglic confirmed that he will compete in Italy for the overall before heading back to the Tour as leader.

“Choosing the Giro was easy. I thought it would be cool to be close to Slovenia again,” Roglic said.

“I usually finish in the Vuelta.

As for the Tour, despite his history of crashes, Roglic said: “It's a shame not to be in the Tour, and it was easy when you think about it.”

“It's a shame that I'm not in the Tour.

As it stands, Logrich, who had further success in Spain, chasing down and passing Ben O'Connor to win the final week of the 2024 Spanish Grand Tour, will not be chasing a record fifth overall title at the Vuelta a España.

Instead, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe will head to the Vuelta with Vlasov, with former Giro winner Jai Hindley as co-leader.
