Alexander Cepeda among the trio of riders who completed the 2025 roster for EF education ・ EasyPost

EF Education-EasyPost has extended its contracts with Alexander Cepeda, Esteban Chaves and James Shaw for another 1 year in 2025 to complete a roster of 29 riders.

The new riders who make up the World Tour team will move from the Soudal-QuickStep and Arkéa-B&B hotels, respectively, and are the "excellent signatures" of the Flemish tour winners Kasper Asgreen and Vincenzo Albanese. 2 riders were in the Top 10 last year, with 21 combined.Team CEO Jonathan Waters expects them to inspire the team's goals in the spring classic.

"He's our good signing," Vaughters said. "With Caspere, our job is to help him get back to the level of 2021 he won over Flanders and regain that magic. He is a really intelligent rider and has already adjusted to making improvements. You could see it in his sixth place in the world.

"Vincenzo, like all our signings, is an important factor in how we have strengthened our team. He is consistently in the top 10. When you're scouting for talent, he's like a rider to offer all year round. He is so versatile.

Samuele Battistella and Madis Mihkels add strength in the sprint, while Alex Baudin, Australian U23 standout Alastair MacKellar and noe-pro Max Walker add valuable depth to the established roster.

In 2024, the pink boy attracted 24 pro road victories. This includes 5 national titles, a stage victory in the Giro d'Italia by Georg Steinhauser, a victory in the Grand Piedmont by Neilson Powless and an outstanding performance by team leader Richard Carapaz. He won his first tour stage victory and Mountain classification jersey. The Karapas race calendar will be announced later this winter.

The team also celebrated a signature off-road victory for Lachlan Morton, who won his first Unlimited Gravel 200 title.

"We always race the best Tour de France we can because it's our responsibility to our sponsors, our fans, and ourselves. The classic is a beautiful race, not as commercially influential as the tour, but a race that the core fans of the sport really love. They're some of the coolest races of the year, so it's a race we want to be successful in," Vaughters said.

Half of the riders on the 29-man roster are under the age of 25. Even veterans who have returned are not so old, with Neilson Paurese only 28 years old and Karapas 31 years old. In addition to that duo, other core riders with impressive results last year include Giro d'Italia stage winner Georg Steinhauser, Slovenia Tour winner Ben Healy, and both Sean Quinn and Louis Costa, who have won national road race titles.

From the youth added to the roster, Vaughters saw great potential in 21-year-old Mihkels and 23-year-old Baudin.

"I think Alex will be our breakout rider next year. His style is very aggressive, he is unrestrained, he is a GC rider who is not afraid to attack and puts it all on the line," he said of the former ten-race AG2R La Mondiale rider, who won the GC at the Tour du Limousin last year and finished fourth in the opening stages of the Giro. "I'm not going to do that.

"With Madis, I honestly think he can win Paris Roubaix in 1 year. He has been great in spring classics and he has taken some top Ten in the field sprint. He hasn't missed a big win yet, but he has shown that he can compete in long races and can freelance in field sprints. He is the perfect rider for us."

6 riders left EF Education-EasyPost after this season, with Alberto Bettiol, Stefan Bissegger, Simon Carr and Jonas Lucci leaving for the other world tour teams. Both Rigoberto Uran and Andrei Amador announced their retirement. Stefan de Bodo had a two-season contract with EF Education, but the contract was not renewed.
