Tom Pidcock has announced that he will join the Q36.5 professional cycling team after ending his contract with Ineos Grenadiers. It's the beginning of something special," Pidcock said, igniting the match after posting a video of him on social media: "2025 is about to light up.
"The opportunity to work with a growing team, incredible partners and brands is something that motivates me. We can't wait to see what we achieve together," he added in the official team announcement.
"I know the challenges we face to get to where we want to be, but it's an adventure and I'm excited about it," he added.
Q36.5 is the 2nd Division ProTeam, but signing Pidcock can secure a wildcard invitation to a major World Tour race and possibly a grand tour in 2025.
"I love racing my bike and look forward to prioritizing it. Believing in me and joining a team that shares my vision of success, this will be a very important step in my career. Let's make that happen," Pidcock said.
Pidcock signed off from the Ineos Grenadier and said, "When one door closes, another opens..."
Little is known about his contract termination, but he was clearly unhappy with the British super team and had been 'deselected' from Il Lombardia.
Pidcock attended the Ineos Grenadiers 11-Month camp in Manchester, but never promised to stay with the team in 2025 and was not seen at the Spanish training camp. Meanwhile, Q36.5 team manager Doug Ryder was working on signing Pidcock after 2025. UCI approved the termination of the contract, approved a new deal with q36.5, and billionaire team-backer Ivan Glasenberg expected to finance Pidcock's signing by increasing the team's budget.
Pidcock reportedly earned more than 300 million euros a year at Ineos Grenadiers.
Q36.5 is set to bring his passion, ambition, and world-class talent to the team as the 25-year-old British rider takes on new challenges together
Scott says Pidcock will switch to cycling in 2025 as part of the transition to Q36.5. We immediately confirmed that we were able to find out what was going on. A reliable source told Cyclingnews that Pidcock will continue to use Pinarello bikes on mountain bikes. Glasenberg also has a majority stake in Pinarello.
The team has a roster of 24 riders, with Pidcock the new team leader and outstanding rider. The team also includes sprinters Giacomo Nizzolo and Matteo Moschetti and Australia's Damien Howson. New riders for 2025 will include Milan Vader, Emúls Liepiú and sjoerd Bax.
"I am honored to welcome Tom Pidcock to the Q36.5 professional cycling team," the rider said.
"Tom is the true embodiment of passion and competitive spirit, quality that resonates deeply with the values of our team. His extraordinary talent both on and off the bike, and his proven ability to win at World Tour levels, make him look forward to writing together this next chapter that will change the game to our roster."
Pidcock will also help Q36.5 develop cycling clothing.
"With his revolutionary, interdisciplinary approach that has versatility at its heart, Tom is the perfect embodiment of our own approach to product development," said Luigi Bergamo, founder and R&D Director of Q36.5.
"Having Tom as part of the team provides us with the opportunity not only to compete for victory in the most prestigious races in the world, but also to continue pushing the limits of Q36.5's vision of what the future of performance cycling clothing will be.
"I can't wait to send him his first pair of Dottore bib shorts and hear his thoughts!"”
