Cillín van Unrooij has made the difficult decision to end his season early, missing the UCI Road World Championships due to unexplained left foot pain and loss of power. The Dutch rider said she will focus on working with her medical team for a diagnosis and recovery plan.
“It is not the news I wanted to tell you, but I have made the decision to end my road season early and skip the World Championships,” van Ambrooy said.
“I have been suffering from pain and loss of power in my left leg and it has become too obvious that more tests are needed to find out what is wrong and the best path to a full recovery.
“Of course it is disappointing, but we are trying to stay positive and believe we can get to the bottom of the problem and get back to our best level before returning to racing.
