Edvald Boasson Hagen has announced his retirement at the end of the season, ending his long professional career. The Norwegian made the announcement in an Instagram post on Wednesday morning.
“There is a time for everything, and after 17 years in the pro peloton, I am proud of what I have accomplished in my career,” Boasson Hagen wrote.
“2024 will be my last season and I look forward to spending more time with my family and exploring new opportunities in life outside of cycling.
After leaving Total Energies, Boasson Hagen signed a contract with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale and will spend the 2024 campaign with the 37-year-old Boasson Hagen is on the provisional starting list for the Renuit Tour and said, “I still have a few races left this season.”
Boasson Hagen, who hails from Ludsvigd near Lillehammer, has made headlines for his brilliant 2006 Tour de Laveneil hat-trick with Norwegian Continental team Maxbo Bianchi.
