Israel's Startup Nation has been added to the lineup for the Sibiu Tour in Romania and will return to racing in July.
The CCC team, which is also competing in the World Tour, was announced by race organizers this weekend, but the team told Cycling News that its participation has not yet been confirmed.
The UCI has already revised its schedule of WorldTour events starting in August and updated its 2020 calendar earlier this week.
The Sibiu Tour will be a four-stage race held July 2-5, with a class 2.1 (class 3) classification.
With this news, Israel Startup Nation was quick to jump at the prospect of resuming the race and will be the first WorldTour team to compete in the Romanian race.
Israel Startup Nation competed in the Sibiu Tour in 2016 when it was a third division team and will continue to compete in the four-stage Dokola Mazovza and Vuelta a Burgos in Poland in July, although organizers of the latter have yet to confirm that the race will take place The organizers of the latter have not yet confirmed that the race will take place.
"It's great for the riders and the team to have some races during July," said team manager Kjell Carlstrom.
"So we can make sure that everything is going in the right direction to safely resume the race calendar, and with a mixed team of the ISN World Tour Team and the Continental Israel Cycling Academy racing, we can make sure that all protocols are working well."
The Israeli Startup Nation will also have a full 2020 calendar, including its debut in the Tour de France on August 29, following the resumption of World Tour racing in Strade Bianche on August 1.
Team management, which recently held its first pandemic training camp, was upbeat about a return to racing, but sprinter Andre Greipel was cautious.
"I'm still shopping with facemasks and people are still dying from coronas," he said.
"No one knows if the virus will spread again. But if the racing season resumes, we will be ready. That's for sure."
