BBC Sports to Broadcast SKODA V-SERIES Women's Tour

Organizers of the new SKODA V-SERIES Women's Tour have announced that the three-stage virtual event, which will take place June 17-19, will be broadcast live on BBC Sport. Top riders and teams will compete each stage on RGT Cycling's virtual platform in support of Brest Cancer Now and Mind.

The race will be broadcast live via the BBC Sport website, app and BBC iPlayer at 7pm BST / 2pm EDT for each of the three stages. Commentary and expert analysis will be provided by Women's Tour commentator Marty MacDonald and Olympic champion Joanna Rowsell Shand.

The race will also be broadcast live on the Women's Tour event website and Youtube channel.

Race organizer Sweet Spot has already announced the 15 professional teams participating in the event, including FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope, Trek Segafredo, and Bigla Katusha.

Trek-Segafredo has announced that it will feature national road champions Ruth Winder, Taylor Wiles, and Lotta Hentala.

"The opportunity to participate in the Virtual Women's Tour will change the monotony that our athletes are experiencing at home, with no races in the foreseeable future, in a positive way. The stages have something for everyone, and we have tried to put together a team that can compete in every stage," said team director Ina Toitenberg

.

"We are still in the early stages of preparations for the resumption of the season, but this event will provide a welcome motivation for the competitors. We want to be competitive at every stage."

Other teams include Bizkaia Durango, CAMS Tifosi, Cogeas Mettler Look Pro Cycling, Drops, Hitech Products Birk Sport, Lotto Soudal Ladies, Rally Cycling, Story Racing, Team Breeze, Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank, and Great Britian are included.

The first two stages will use RGT Cycling's "Magic Road" software, which allows event organizers to simulate routes and profiles using GPX files. For the third and final stage, RGT Cycling's ultra-realistic Real Road will be used.

Sweet Spot announced last month that it was forced to cancel the women's tour, originally scheduled for June, due to health and safety precautions surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Organizers plan to return to the Women's World Tour calendar in 2021.

The event will open on June 17 with a 38.4 km stage to Berry St. Edmunds in Suffolk.

The second stage is a 35.7 km race to Barton Dassett in Warwickshire on June 18.

The race concludes on June 19 with a 35 km circuit race around Canary Wharf, a 1 km circuit around the London business district.
