French newcomer Benoit Cosnefroy has signed a three-year contract extension with AG2R La Mondiale and will remain with the French team at least until the end of 2023.
Cosnefroy turned pro with AG2R shortly before winning the U23 road race world title in 2017. Last year he won Paris-Camembert, GP Plumelec, La Polynormande, and Tour du Limousin, and he started 2020 by winning GP La Marseillaise and Etoile de Besseges.
The 24-year-old Pancourt's aggressive approach to racing has seen him succeed in hilly and cobbled classics.
"The extension with AG2R La Mondiale means a choice between continuity and ambition; signing a three-year contract is a sign of trust from the team's management and partners," said Kosnefroi.
"The whole project motivates me. I feel really expected. It's pressure that pleases me and motivates me. Everyone communicates very well and we exchange interesting points of view. Right now I want to win a UCI WorldTour one-day race and my dream is to win the Ardennes Classics."
Koznefrova joined AG2R after graduating from the team's development organization, Chambéry Cyclisme Formation.
As one of the most promising young French riders, he was seen as an important part of the team's future, and with Romain Bardet's future up in the air, coach Vincent Lavenu was keen to secure Kosnefrois.
"I am very happy to have extended the contract with Benoit Kosnefrois, especially for three years. It was an important goal," Lavneux said.
"He is a talented rider and comes from our home town, having trained at Chambéry Cyclisme Formation. He is not afraid to express his ambitions. We are ready to accompany and help him achieve his goals."
[18Koznefroi followed Oliver Naessen in signing a new three-year contract, and AG2R remained relatively unscathed by the coronavirus outbreak, also extending contracts with Jeffrey Bouchard, Dorian Godon, Aurelien Palais Pantre and Alexis Vuillermoz.
Bardet, however, has yet to have his future confirmed, with recent reports of a move to Team Sunweb, and the future of the team's Grand Tour secondary leader, Pierre Latour, is likewise undecided.
