Team Sunweb Unveils Black and White Summer Kit

Team Sunweb (opens in new tab) unveiled its "Keep Challenging" summer kit, which changes its red and black colors to a white base and a two-stripe design.

UCI rules allow teams to change their colors once a year. The new clothing will be made by Kraft, and Team Sunweb announced that it will also introduce a select number of cervélo bikes in a "new, glossy, predominantly black design."

The new kit will be worn by the men's and women's WorldTour teams and development teams, Michael Matthews (opens in new tab), Nicolas Roche, Tees Benoot, Sam Omen, Colin Rivera (opens in new tab), Florche McKay and Rian Lippert, And all team riders were sent new kits to use during training and when racing resumes in the summer after the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the race calendar.

"As summer approaches, Team Sunweb hopes that these new opportunities - socials, trips, team camps, and eventually racing will resume. The novelty of swapping the spring and summer kits was planned, but now that the new white summer kits are available, the team is looking forward to a fresh season restart more than ever. It's a restart that allows us to continue doing what we love most: riding our bikes in beautiful places around the world," Team Sunweb said at the announcement of the new colors.

The colors are similar to those used in 2017 and 2018 before the change to red and black. The shorts remain black, the jersey is mostly white to reduce overheating in the sun, and there are Keep Challenging strips on the front and back of the jersey. The large é logo on the shoulder of bike sponsor Cervelo is also black, with the Sunweb Holiday Company logo on the chest in red.

"The two Keep Challenging stripes measure precisely the same length and reflect the exact balance of energy that an individual gains and gives from the other individuals that form their environment. The stripe on the left symbolizes each individual's constant growth, while the stripe on the right visualizes the constant improvement of their innovative environment," explains Team Sunweb.

According to Team Sunweb, the kit is made of innovative new materials that further reduce aerodynamic drag, and the bib shorts are made of DSM's Dyneema fiber, which protects riders in the event of a fall.

The new kit is complemented by the Lazer Bullet and Genesis helmet.
