Boels Dolmans announced on Tuesday a one-year contract extension with Belgian sprinter Jorian Dufour and a two-year extension with Luxembourg champion Christine Majerus. The team has signed a four-year deal with new title sponsor SD Worx, starting in 2021.
"When the team offered me a new contract, I had no hesitation. I am the only Belgian in this Dutch team, but I always feel at home and I am proud that SDWorx will be the new main sponsor," he said in the team announcement.
Boels Dolmans announced in February that it had signed a four-year deal with a new title sponsor that will financially support the team through 2024. SD Worx, a payroll and human resources provider, will take over as title sponsor of the Dutch women's team in January.
The team also announced that Olympic champion and former world champion Anna van der Breggen will retire at the end of the 2021 season and become sporting director. Similarly, former world champion Chantal van den Broeck-Blaak will retire in 2022 and assume the role of director.
European champions Amy Peters and Ronneke Uneken also announced that they have renewed their contracts.
Majerus has been a mainstay of the Boels Dolmans team for the past six seasons. She is the team's road captain and superdomestique. She is also a frequent finalist in race finals and has won 23 national championship titles, two stages in the Women's Tour [of Britain], two times in Dwars door de Westhoek and La Classique Morbihan, and the overall Boels Ladies Tour She has won the overall title at the Boels Ladies Tour.
"Christine has been invaluable to the team since 2014," said team manager Danny Stam. 'She's an outstanding team player and a true professional who is always willing to help others. And when she is in a situation where she has a chance to win, she makes it happen. Her win last year on the Boels Ladies Tour is a perfect example of that. And every winter, she is one of the top performers in many cyclocross events.
D'hoor joined Boels Dolmans in 2019 with 46 career wins. In her first season with the team she won a stage at Emakumeen Bira and two stages of the OVO Energy Women's Tour, but crashed on the opening stage of the BeNe Ladies Tour in July, breaking her elbow.
"Last year, Jolien suffered a broken collarbone and elbow, and this season she has yet to prove herself due to the coronavirus outbreak. She's eager to be back next year wearing the colors of our main sponsor, SD Worx of Belgium. She is eager to wear the colors of our main sponsor, the Belgian company SD Worx, next year. She will concentrate on the Flanders competition in the spring and after April she will start working towards the Tokyo Olympics."
Dufour won a bronze medal in the omnium at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. She has had great success in recent years, winning the European Championships (2016) and World Championships (2017) in the Madison event along with Lotte Kopecky.
Dufour said she will focus on Madison at the postponed Tokyo Olympics next summer. 'The medal potential is highest in Madison, so that event is my absolute priority. At the Olympics, I will compete in the Omnium to see who is stronger at that point, Lotte or me."
