Justin Williams to Expand Legion Los Angeles and Junior Camps with $110,000 Donation

Justin Williams, founder of cycling team "Legion of Los Angeles," discusses the myth of the criterium position, life advice, and the team's recent GoFundMe plan that raised $110,000 in a new podcast "From The Gun With L39ION" released its second episode.

"It's amazing, crazy. We set the number at $50,000 because we thought that would be a reasonable number." We're more than doubling it, so we're going to think about how we can allocate it to more things, but for the most part we're going to use it to build the infrastructure for the team." [With the funds, we can have team camps and more community involvement, which I really like. We'll bring back the junior day camps and barbecues and take it even further, with all the L39UNION teams for three or four hours, and then we'll break into groups and go to ...... We will make it open to all junior teams."

Legion of Los Angeles is an elite cycling team in the U.S. that was launched to improve diversity and inclusion in the sport.

The team has launched a GoFundMe page, Pride of the People - L39ION of Los Angeles, which has reached approximately $110,000. The team has five plans for how to use these funds, including supporting junior programs and riders through grants, talent camps, and equipment needs.

Williams made the top 10 on the recently released Cycling News Power List: 50 Most Influential People in Cycling.
