According to Wielerflits.nl, the UCI will not change its plans to hold an elite men's time trial for the road world championships on the final day of the Tour de France (opens in new tab), and former world champions Tom Dumoulin (opens in new tab), Tony Martin and Primoz Roglic (opens in new tab) are out of contention for the title race. The UCI Road World Championships schedule remains unchanged despite the massive late-season reshuffling of Grand Tours, Classics, and other major races due to the coronavirus pandemic blockade. Wielerfritz confirmed from the UCI that the men's time trial, which coincides with the final stage of the Tour, will not be moved.
The elite men's individual time trial will take place on September 20 in Aigle, Switzerland, on the same day as the final parade stage to Paris.
Jumbo Wisma has confirmed to Wielerfritz that he will reconsider his focus on the world championship time trial, which features Dumoulin, Primoz Roglic, Tony Martin, and Wout Van Aert.
A difficult choice for other top riders, but helpful for those focused on the Giro d'Italia: 20129 World Champion Rohan Dennis, who was scheduled to ride the Corsa Rosa, could defend his title, and runner-up Remco Evenpole ( Deceuninck-Quick Step) could once again be his biggest rival before heading to the Giro d'Italia,
organizers of the Eagle Martigny also announced Friday that the Swiss Championships will be held as a test event on the World Championship circuit on August 22.
