Deceuninck-QuickStep has decided where to hold its second training camp before the road racing season resumes in late July. The Belgian team held a training camp in the Dolomites in mid-July, followed by a three-day camp in Flanders earlier this month.
From July 6 to July 23, the team will head to Val di Fassa and Passo San Pellegrino to return to competition at the Vuelta a Burgos on July 28.
"Staying in Val di Fassa is an ideal combination for us. 'I know the area well, having come here to ski in the past, and this time I hope to discover it during the summer.'
"We were looking for a place to stay at altitudes above 2000 meters. Not only do I have training that I can do with climbers, but I also have long flat areas where I can train with sprinters."
Lefebvre added that the team will implement various protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All staff and riders will be inspected prior to travel or upon arrival at the campsite, sanitation will be strictly enforced, and contact with the outside world will be kept to a minimum.
"This location allows us to be compact and introduce all the necessary safety measures in these unprecedented times," said Lefebvre.
"Above all," Lefebvire said, "we look forward to working as a group to get the riders in top shape for the resumption of racing.
Deceuninck-QuickStep has not yet confirmed the team roster for the Vuelta a Burgos, but Het Laatste Nieuws reports that Remco Evenpoel will start in Burgos.
Meanwhile, Julien Alaphilippe will return to the road on August 1 at Strade Bianche for the Tour de France at the end of the month. Last week, Alaphilippe was scouting Tour stages in the French Alps with Bob Jungels and Dries Devenyns.
