Team Sunweb will take on the Tour de France, its first Grand Tour since the departure of Tom Dumoulin, with no overall class ambitions.
Wilco Kelderman and Sam Oomen, who both finished in the top 10 in the Grand Tours and will leave the team after this year, head to the Giro d'Italia.
Michael Matthews will surprisingly miss the Tour de France and the Cobbled Classics to compete in the Giro d'Italia.
Team Sunweb confirmed its eight-man lineup for the Tour (August 29-September 20) and Giro d'Italia (October 3-25) on Wednesday, as well as the long list for the Vuelta a España (October 20-November 8).
Joining Benoot in the Tour will be sprinters Cece Boll and Nikias Arndt, and rulers Søren Cragg Andersen and Jascha Stalin. Talented youngsters Marc Hirschi and Joris Nieuwenhuys make their Grand Tour debuts, and experienced Nicolas Roche rounds out the team.
The versatile Benoot, who has a strong overall record in a week of stage races, is also the team's Flanders Classics leader; to minimize the risks associated with COVID-19, the team is operating in a "bubble," Andersen, Bol, Hirschi, Satterlin will join him during the Maine Classic in October.
"The Tour de France awaits as the first stage of the Grand Tour, and we will be looking for stage wins with sprints and aggressive racing," said head coach Rudy Kemna.
In the Giro, Sunweb will target GC with Kelderman, who finished seventh in 2014, and Omen, who won the title in 2017 with a ninth place while supporting Dumoulin.
Matthews will be returning to the Giro for the first time since 2015, when he wore the leader's pink jersey. As such, the sixth-place finisher in his debut Tour de Flanders last year will not race the Tour or the cobbled classics, but will be available for the Milan-San Remo on August 15.
The Giro group will be the base for the Tour of Poland, Il Lombardia, and Tirreno-Adriatico teams.
"Our goals for the Giro d'Italia are GC and a difficult sprint," Kemna said.
Meanwhile, the Vuelta is likely to give the team's younger riders a chance, with a long list of 12 riders, including Italian sprinter Alberto Dainese and Australians Robert Power and Michael Stoller. Experienced American domestique and Grand Tour time trial winner Chad Haga is also on this long list, and Roche is the only rider to compete in two Grand Tours.
The Team Sunweb men's and women's teams will return to racing on August 1 at Strade Bianche. From now until that point, a training camp will be held in the Austrian Alps, and athletes will be allowed to travel, provided they are tested and negative for COVID-19 before the move.
