ASO has announced the teams for the 2020 edition of La Course by Le Tour de France; 2019 winner Marianne Vos' CCC-Liv team has been automatically selected for the race, which will take place on August 29.
Seven other Women's World Tour teams (Ale BTC Ljubljana, Canyon Slam, FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope, Mitchelton Scott, Movistar, Team Sunweb, and Trek Segafredo) also received automatic invitations, and Women's Continental 15 teams will also participate.
Other teams competing in the 7th One-Day Race include Boels Dolmans, Lotto Soudal, and Paule Ka, newly reborn as the Bigla Katusha team.
The race was originally scheduled to take place in Paris on July 19, but the original date was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The new date coincides with the opening stage of the Tour de France men's race in Nice, so it is likely that La Course will be held in the southern city, but this has not yet been confirmed by ASO.
La Course, founded in 2014, has been dominated by Dutch riders since its inception, with Chloe Hosking's win in 2016 the only event won by a non-Dutch woman; Vos in 2014 and 2019, Anna van der Breggen in 2015. won the championship, and Annemiek van Fruten won the two-stage competition in 2017 and 2018.
After 2017 and an unofficial second "Pursuit" time trial stage, the race returned to a one-day format, and in the thrilling 2018 event, van Vleuten chased down van der Breggen in the last 14 km of the race, and in the last few meters of the 112 km race meters to catch and overtake her compatriot.
Tour race director Christian Prudhomme commented in May that the 2022 race was "a logical assumption." The comments came shortly after the surprise addition of the women's Paris-Roubaix on October 25 to the 2020 Women's World Tour. 13]
