Primoš Roglic spoke about the Tour de France rematch, contenders, and co-leading Jumbo-Visma.
Roglic praised Quintana's move to Arkea-Samsic after eight years with Movistar, noting his victories at the Tour du Var and Tour de la Provence, as well as his victory in the final mountain stage of Paris-Nice earlier this year.
"I think it was a good decision because at the beginning of the season he was winning very well," Roglic told AS Colombia (opens in new tab). 'But we'll have to see how his return goes at the start of the season. I don't think it's a disadvantage because he's at Arcare."
"He has already shown how strong he is this year. It will be hard to stop him in the Tour."
Roglič will join 2019 co-leader Steven Kruijswijk and newcomer Tom Dumoulin in France, where the Dutch team will take on Team Ineos. George Bennett, Sepp Kuss, Wout van Aert, Tony Martin, and Robert Gesink join the trio as part of Jumbo Visma's "super team."
"I'm happy. We're stronger as a team, which is good. I think the three of us can be leaders in the Tour. Ultimately, we train as a team to achieve our goals. We've been training with them and everything is going well.
"The strongest player will be the leader," he added. But we'll have to see who the best is."
They will face stiff competition from the Ineos, who have three potential winners in Chris Froome, Egan Bernal, and Geraint Thomas. Roglic said he respects Froome's decision to move to Israel's Startup Nation next season and end his 11-year relationship with Ineos/Sky.
"I respect Froome's decision. I can't say too much, but he is without a doubt one of the champions of this generation of cycling. I am confident he will do what it takes to get back to the highest level possible. We will have to wait and see how he rides in the Tour. [Bernal won the Tour last year. He is a champion and I am sure he will be strong again this year. I appreciate that he says I am his rival. But that's just wishful thinking. I would love to be up there in the Tour."
