Like both Trek-Segafredo and CCC-Liv, the Dutch women's team Boels Dolmans will resume its 2020 season later this month in the Basque Country of Spain. It will begin with the Emakmeen Nafarrok Classicoa (July 23), followed by the Clasica Femenina Navarra the next day, and conclude with the Durango Durango on July 26.
According to the Algemeen Dagblad, coach Danny Stam and his nine Dutch players are currently in a training camp in the Limburg region of the Netherlands.
"There are only nine riders in Valkenburg (no other riders from abroad yet). 'It's great to be reunited with all the riders we haven't been able to meet so far because of the coronavirus control.'
According to AD.nl, Stam and the team staff will drive more than 1,300 kilometers from the Netherlands to Spain on Sunday in preparation for the three races, with the six participating riders flying in the following day.
The team is eager to resume racing, but Stam said he and the riders are under no illusions about the dangers of resuming competition while the coronavirus outbreak is still ongoing.
"We are aware that things could go wrong and we might have to be quarantined, for example," Stamm said." While we cannot rule out "doomsday scenarios," we need to look forward. If everything is cancelled now, I don't think there will be any cycling at all this season."
"What happens if a rider tests positive for corona? Does the team have to go home?
"No one could have predicted that it would take this long," added Stamm of the closure of pro cycling due to the COVID-19 crisis. It was a strange season with many uncertainties."
"It was also a short year for sponsors to say goodbye," he said, citing Dutch equipment rental companies Boels and Dolmans Landscaping Group. I hope we can present them with some good wins."
Next season, Dutch payroll and human resources provider SD Worx will be looking to add former road race world champions Amalie Dideriksen, Anna van der Breggen, Chantal van den Broeck-Blaak, and current European road race champion Amy Peters, will be the main sponsor of the team, which includes.
