Vuelta a Burgos: Trentin leads CCC team

Matteo Trentin and the CCC team will return to racing for the first time in nearly five months since their last race at the Burgos Vuelta (July 28-August 1). Currently looking for a new title sponsor for 2021 and with close ties to Manuela Fundacion, the team heads to Burgos with a strong lineup that includes Trentin plus Patrick Bevan and Victor de la Parte. Trentin will be aiming for four sprint finishes and preparing for his first big goal of the season in Milan-San Remo.

"I'm happy to be back racing and lining up for the Vuelta a Burgos next week," Trentin said.

"It will be a good opportunity to get back into the mix after this long period away from racing. My training has been good during this time, I'm in good shape and I think I'm in good shape to win a stage. There are three sprints and two mountains in the Vuelta a Burgos. This race will be an important first step in terms of preparation for the rest of the season, but it is also important to race in the hot Spanish temperatures to get used to the heat that I will experience in Milan-San Remo, where I will join the classic teams."

The CCC team has been battling pay cuts since the race was suspended earlier this year, and is anxious to get going after its title sponsor was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The team is confident that Giant will remain a bike supplier through 2021. In the short term, the team is happy to be back racing after such a long absence.

"I think everyone is really looking forward to getting to the starting line and doing what we all love to do," sport director Gabriele Mizzaglia said in a press release issued by the team.

"The Vuelta a Burgos is a great opportunity to get back on track and race hard after a long break. The Vuelta a Burgos is a great opportunity to get back in shape and race hard after a long layoff. Trentin is the leader in Spain and will come into the Vuelta a Burgos in good shape, ready to challenge for stage wins in his final training for the event.

"He will have good riders around him in the early stages with Patrick Bevin, Victor de la Parte, Kamil Gradec, Kamil Mawecki, Simon Sajnok, and Attila Valter.

Trentin is not the only one looking for success in CCC team colors; Bevin and Valter are also trying to get results in GC.

"Bevin is also looking to do well in the five-stage race with De La Parte and Valter. It has been a very strange season so far, but as a team we are confident that we are ready to resume the season in a positive way. Finally, while we are more than happy to return to racing, we know that it is still a sensitive time and we will maintain the highest standards of hygiene and adhere to the team's medical protocols as well as those of the race organizers and the host country.
