Mourman Pacio loses Strade Bianche in accident that required 60 stitches

Ashley Moolman Passio (CCC-Liv), Ella Harris (Canyon-SRAM), and Clara Koppenburg (Ekip Paul Ka) will be withdrawing from the Strade Bianche after crashing in training just before the race.

All three were scheduled to return to the Women's World Tour race in Tuscany on Saturday, but after the accident so close to the race, their team will start the race with one less rider.

Harris suffered a broken hip in Friday's crash, giving her the worst start of the trio. Her team confirmed the injury in a Twitter post, adding that the 22-year-old will undergo surgery soon.

Moolman-Pasio also revealed Saturday morning that she would miss the race. The South African native needed 60 stitches in a training accident on Friday.

Koppenberg, meanwhile, posted on Instagram that she would return home without starting the race after crashing on Friday, but did not specify what injuries she sustained.

On Saturday morning, the elite of the women's peloton resumed the Women's World Tour as 22 teams started Strade Bianche.

Former winners such as Annemike van Fruten, Anna van der Breggen, Elisa Longo Borghini, and Lizzie Deignan will participate, as well as Marianne Voss, Cecilie Uttrup-Ludwig, and Chantal van den Broeck-Braak. will be competing in the race.
