According to a press release from Bora-Hansgrohe, 17-year-old Jan Readman, a member of Team Haute Eder Bayern, the under-19 feeder team of World Tour team Bora-Hansgrohe, was struck by a car during training on Saturday, suffering head injuries and dying
The team's head injury was the first to be reported in the past year.
According to the team, Riedmann, a young German, was training with teammates in Schugenheim in the southeastern German state of Bavaria when a car failed to give way to a rider. Rydman was taken by helicopter to the University Hospital of Würzburg, where he died as of Sunday from head trauma.
"Jan, you were such a wonderful person. Jan, you were such a wonderful person. You will always be one of us and your presence will be deeply missed. Rest in peace."
Ralf Denk, director of both Bora Hansgrohe and Haute Eder Bayern, wrote on Bora's team website: "We deeply mourn Jan's passing and hereby extend our sincere condolences to his entire family and relatives"
