Race leader Primoz Roglic (open in new tab) (Jumbo-Visma) abandoned the Criterium du Dauphiné before the final stage to Megève after being injured on Saturday's stage 4.
With Roglic's abandonment, Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) will lead the race on Sunday's final stage, 10 seconds ahead of Guillaume Martin (Cofidis).
"As a result of yesterday's crash, GC and points leader Primo Roglic will not compete in today's final stage. The progress of his injury will determine his future race plan. Early recovery, @rogla," a statement from Jumbo-Visma (opens in new tab) said on Twitter.
Roglic's next race is the Tour de France, which begins on August 29 in Nice.
His overall win at the Tour de l'Ain and his performance at the Dauphiné made him a threat to defending champion Eoghan Bernal (Team Ineos).
Logic's teammate Steven Kruijswijk also dislocated his shoulder in a crash at the Dauphiné on Saturday, and Emmanuel Buchmann (Bora-Hansgrohe), fourth in last year's Tour, was forced to retire.
