Lemko Evenpoel is expected to be flown to Belgium within 24 hours.
The Belgian rider suffered a fractured pelvis and right lung contusion in Saturday's crash at Il Lombardia. The team confirmed that he is currently in good condition but will remain in a hospital in Como until he is transported home.
"We would like to inform you that Lemko Evenpoel spent a quiet night in the hospital and is in good condition. Due to the nature of the injury, Lemko must be flown to Belgium on his back," the team confirmed in a medical update on Sunday.
"The team is doing everything in its power to get him back home as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours, in the most efficient and safe way."
Evenepoel lost control on the descent of Muro di Solmano in the last 50 km of the race on Il Lombardia, hit the stone wall of the bridge, fell into the valley below, and crashed.
After the crash, he was fitted with a neck brace and taken by ambulance to a hospital in Como. The team confirmed that he was conscious at all times and he underwent a series of tests to determine the extent of his injuries.
Deceuninck-Quickstep confirmed that the 20-year-old suffered a fractured pelvis and bruised lung in the crash Saturday evening.
Evenpoel has had a successful season, winning four stage races: the Tour de Pollonne, Vuelta a Burgos, Volta ao Algarve, and Vuelta a San Juan. Team manager Patrick Lefebvre announced that the 2020 season is over and that the team will miss the Giro d'Italia in October.
