Jumbo Visma leader Primoz Roglic has recovered sufficiently from his crash at last week's Criterium du Dauphiné to hopefully be able to compete in this year's Tour de France, which starts in Nice in one week.
"I had a little spin yesterday," Roglic wrote on Instagram on Thursday, accompanied by a photo of his left elbow bandaged up in his trainer at home.
"After my crash at the Criterium du Dauphiné on Saturday, I honestly thought I was better already," he added, suggesting that he was in fact not better yet.
"We'll see what happens now. I'll remain optimistic." He wrote, adding, "Bisou (kisses), Tignes' rogula."
Following the Dauphiné, Roglic and his Tour teammates stayed in the French Alps, based at the ski resort of Tignes. Despite crashing on stage 4, Roglic held on to his lead and did not start the final fifth stage.
While Roglic was recovering, teammate Steven Kruijswijk (who was scheduled to lead the Dutch WorldTour team with Roglic and Tom Dumoulin in Nice on August 29) crashed on the same Dauphiné stage, and in a physical battle He had to admit defeat.
"Unfortunately, my fall in the Dauphiné was more serious than expected. 'Very unfortunately, due to a broken shoulder and many abrasions, I will not be able to participate in the Tour de France.'
"I wish the team good luck at the Tour and I am very sorry that I will not be able to participate in the Tour," Kruijswijk said.
