Marianne Vos Contract Ends, But She's Happy with CCC-Liv at Giro Rosa

Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv) dominated her rivals on stage 6 in Nola to take her third stage win at the 2020 Giro Rosa and 28th of her career. There was no stopping Vos, who is looking for more stage wins in the women's Grand Tour. The former world champion thanked the CCC-Liv team for their support.

"As always, I am taking it one day at a time. It's great to have already won three stages.

"I can't believe the team worked so hard and of course everything went so well. Of course it's great to win even one stage in the Giro Rosa, it's amazing to win two stages, and to win three stages is incredible."

The 33-year-old has reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Jumbo Visma women's team, which was just announced for 2021. However, Voss was reluctant to confirm these reports or her future plans, preferring instead to focus on the success of this week's CCC-Liv.

"Well, the contract will end and there will be different opportunities, but yes, I'm going to focus on what I'm doing right now," Voss said at the finish of Stage 6.

"I'm very happy with the team [CCC-Liv] right now, and as you can see, it's working very well.

Stage 6 of the Giro Rosa will start in Torre del Greco and cross the road behind Mount Versuvius.

On a similar stage, the peloton was unable to stop the Dutch team from winning for the third time, despite the Vos CCC-Liv team deploying similar control tactics.

"We played the same tactics as yesterday. Today was tougher than expected, hotter, faster, twisty, steeper, and all around harder."

CCC-Liv controlled the front of the peloton on the mid-stage climb and tried to eliminate as many pure sprinters as possible during the race. Vos said, "I think that was the tactic some teams were hoping we would use today after yesterday."

"It was a hard race because of hard work and great effort from my teammates. Every day my teammates work very hard, so of course I want to finish the race, but it's not as easy as it looks."

Maria Novorotskaia (Cogias-Mettler-Luc) attacked alone from the front with 10km to go, at one point closing the gap to 30 seconds. With a few kilometers to go, he crashed and the group crossed the finish line with one kilometer to go.

Commenting on the last few kilometers before the finish, with its cobblestones and numerous turns, Boss said, "In the end there was a small attack and of course Novorozhkaia's attack was very strong.

"We tried to focus on what we had to do. I am very grateful to the team for giving us a good position. Of course she is a strong rider but we knew it would be difficult to ride alone. It's a shame she crashed and lost her chance."
