Marianne Vos had contact with Juan Bruthen in the Giro Rosa, sustained abrasions but no broken bones.

Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv), a three-time winner of this year's Giro Rosa, crashed with overall leader Annemiek van Fruten (Mitchelton-Scott) and missed the final sprint in Maddaloni on stage 7. CCC-Liv confirmed that Vos s injuries included abrasions but no broken bones.

"I don't know exactly what happened. I was one of the first racers to crash, and the girls in front of me made contact with the wheels, and then it was like one big domino fall."

The crash occurred on the straight before the town of Maddaloni.

Voss appeared to have survived the crash relatively unscathed, but her kit was torn, showing scrapes and bruises. Her team confirmed that there were no broken bones.

"I'm fine," Voss said of her condition.

Her compatriot Van Hulten and Australian national champion Amanda Spratt are currently in the hospital undergoing tests to further confirm their injuries. Van Fruten is suspected to have injured her left wrist and Spratt her collarbone.

Vos was in good position for the finish and headed for a group sprint after the sole leader, Maria Novorotskaia (Kogeas Mettler Look), was caught on the final climb.

"There were good riders in the breakaway group," Vos said of the five riders who at one point were more than four minutes ahead of the peloton.

." But there was a climb, which made the race tough." There was a small group in front of us on the downhill to the finish, and an even smaller group in the sprint."

"But here it was a very fast ride and the last corner became crucial to be in a good position, and everyone knew it.

The corner where the riders crashed just before was not as dangerous as some of the roads to the finish that this race has seen in previous stages. But accidents like this crash could happen at any time in bicycle racing.

"It wasn't really that dangerous, but you never know what can happen," Vos said.

Vos retained the points jersey heading into stage 8.
