Primoš Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) denied feeling the pressure of being in the Tour de France "bubble" on Sunday as hopes of victory in Paris rose.
The Slovenian, who has led the Tour de France for 12 days, faces a major obstacle in Saturday's time trial to La Planche des Belle Fils before his chances of winning the overall increase.
But while Tadej Pogachar (UAE Team Emirates) has a 57-second advantage, it is not a big enough gap to make a mistake in the time trial.
Still, after finishing 45th in Friday's transition stage through the rolling countryside on the edge of the Jura Mountains, the leader of Jumbo Visma claimed "so far so good" and said he was relaxed.
"I'm taking it moment by moment. When the race is over, we will reflect on what happened at each point," the GC leader said after the 19th stage.
"I'm still relaxed. So far so good. My legs are good and I'm impatient for tomorrow's (Saturday) stage."
Roglic, who checked out the time trial route earlier this season, said most of the day before the time trial will be spent on a second and final preliminary run. He reiterated that if he were to switch bikes mid-stage and tackle the climb to La Planche des Belles Filles, it would be a last-minute decision.
One of the key figures in Jumbo Visma's disappearance from tomorrow's race is sporting director Merijn Zeeman, who was expelled from the Tour de France after an argument with the UCI commissaires.
"It's a pity he's not with us. 'I was very surprised to hear it yesterday [Thursday] evening. So it's difficult to comment on what he said. But it's a shame he can't be here any more."
