DNA Pro Cycling Team Extends 2021 Contracts with All Riders

The U.S.-based DNA Pro Cycling team has extended the contracts of all its riders from 2020 to next year, citing the difficult situation this season when the COVID-19 coronavirus caused the cancellation of most events in the women's continental program. 2021 will see Mikaela Drummond will depart for new opportunities in Europe, and Erica Clevenger will join from Team TIBCO-SVB.

"Shortly after a productive team camp in the spring, on our way to our first race of the 2020 season, we arrived in the race city to learn of the first cancellations. We are extremely grateful to our sponsors who continue to support the team and share our priority of protecting the health and safety of our riders," said team co-owner and director Catherine Fegan-Kim.

The only new rider for next season is Clevenger. This Colorado rider raced with the program in 2017 when it was known as Visit Dallas | DNA Pro Cycling. Clevenger is a past collegiate national road race champion and won the best young rider award during the 2017 USA CRITS season. She is currently the college representative to the USA Cycling Board of Directors and will take over the roster spot vacated by Drummond, who raced for the team for four years.

Returning for 2021 are Katie Krause, Margot Klein, Maggie Coles-Leister, Heather Fisher, Sarah Kaufman, Mia Kilburg, Kimberly Lucy, Hannah Muget, Liza Rachet, and Nicole Shields, Brenna Bly-Simpson are in the program.

Krause, racing in her fifth year with the program, won the 2019 U.S. collegiate title in the mountain bike and under-23 cyclocross events. Kilberg continues his return to professional cycling after winning a medal in long track speed skating at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Coles-Leister, based in British Columbia, is the last all-rounder to finish on the podium at the 2019 Tour of the Gila, behind Chloe Dygert on stage 4.

"We are very excited to send this strong roster to UCI, PRT, and USA CRITS races as we started this year," said co-owner Lee Whaley.

"The unfortunate circumstances of this year's pandemic have only served to further strengthen our desire to compete next year."

DNA Pro Cycling returns to the UCI Continental level in 2020 after a two-year absence, and will compete as a UCI team in 2021, targeting USA Cycling Pro Road Tour and USA CRITS Series races. The team will compete in the USA Cycling Pro Road Tour and the USA CRITS series of races.
