UAE Team Emirates' Tadey Pogachar will end his 2020 season and will not compete in the Tour de Flanders on October 18. Pogachar, the Tour de France winner, will need to rest, the team told Belgian media.
The 21-year-old Slovenian is the second-youngest winner in history and the youngest Tour winner in 116 years; the second edition in 1904 was won by 19-year-old Frenchman Henri Cornet.
Pogachar turned 22 the day after finishing the Tour, but had little time to celebrate his birthday or his Tour victory, and competed in the world championship road race in Imola, Italy, the following weekend, finishing 33rd.
"It's been a busy few weeks, but he will now rest," UAE Team Emirates told Sporza on Tuesday.
"Taddei has had a busy time since the Tour, with the World Championships and the Ardennes Classics.
Pogachar was set to compete in his first Tour de Flanders, and Jasper Philipsen was confident that his teammate's good form would continue in the Belgian one-day race.
"Taddei has what it takes to qualify for the Tour de Flanders final.
