Mark Cavendish has indicated that he intends to continue his career through 2021, but the big question now is where he will move to. His current team Bahrain McLaren is a possibility, but former teammate Bradley Wiggins has suggested that Cavendish sign with Ineos Grenadiers (formerly Team Sky), his 2012 team.
CyclingNews examined the 35-year-old Cavendish's move in its latest podcast, but Deceuninck-QuickStep boss Patrick Lefevere, in his Het Nieuwsblad column on Friday, said that Cavendish's top of the wish list, or at least near the top, he suggested.
"It's no secret that Cavendish wants to come back to our team. [The two worked together at T-Mobile and HTC Colombia before parting ways in the 2012 season with Team Sky and reuniting again in 2013 with Omega Pharma-Quick Step.
Cavendish remained with the Belgian WorldTour team until the end of 2015, winning 44 of his 146 victories under Lefebvre, including three Tour de France stage wins, five Giro d'Italia stage wins, the Coupe Brussel-Coone and British road race titles In.
In 2016, he moved to Dimension Data and this season to Bahrain McLaren.
"I've been thinking about it: what can he bring to the team? What can he offer to the young riders? ' At the moment, my heart says yes, but my mind says no. In any case, I won't make a decision until I speak with Mark personally. What he brings to cycling, and especially what he could bring to our team, is amazing. The respect is at least what he deserves.
