Sepulveda signs with Androni Giocattoli

Eduardo Sepulveda will move to Androni Giocattoli Seidelmec in 2021, ending his three-year tenure at Movistar. News of the Argentine rider's signing follows confirmation this weekend that Androni Giocattoli will remain the team's lead sponsor next season.

"For next season we are once again putting together a competitive team. With 13 wins this year, we are second in the world in the Pro Continental division behind Van der Pol at Alpecin Phoenix."

Savio praised Sepulveda's "experience" and added that his team will soon announce the addition of "three young riders with real talent."

Sepulveda, a native of Lawson, Patagonia, was based at the World Cycling Center in Aigle in 2012 and turned pro the following year in Brittany Seche; in 2015 he won the Classique Sud-Ardèche and Tour du Dubs and in 2016 He won a stage at the Tour de Saint Louis and competed in the Tour de France three times.

Sepulveda joined Movistar ahead of the 2018 season and finished second overall at last year's Tour of Austria. The 29-year-old Sepulveda joined the Italian-only program when the 2020 season resumes in August. His last race with Movistar was the Giro d'Italia, where he finished 57th overall.

Androni Giocattoli Sidelmec was also active in the Giro, and all eight Corsa Rosa riders, including Simon Peraud and Honatan Restrepo, will remain with the team in 2021.

Sepulveda is the 15th rider confirmed for Androni Sidelmec's 2021 roster, and Savio has said he will use a total of 20 riders. Earlier this month, Savio told Cycling News that he would not sign Fabio Aru, who is looking for a team for 2021 after his departure from UAE Team Emirates.
