Ensing and Tenigro Extend Contracts with Mitchelton Scott Girls

Mitchelton Scott has announced contract extensions with Dutch riders Monique Tenigro and Janneke Ensing.

The 32-year-old Tenigro will join the Women's WorldTour team in 2019 and is a valuable domestique who hopes that after a 2020 season interrupted by a coronavirus outbreak, things may at least begin to return to normal.

"2020 was a year of uncertainty in a world where nothing is clear," she said on the team's website last week. 'It's not easy for anyone, but as a team we have stayed in close contact and supported each other throughout the season. We worked together to stay fit and healthy and to keep a good spirit on and off the bike."

"I feel privileged to be a part of the Mitchelton Scott family.

Along with Ensing, Tenigro's re-signing with the team means that despite the European road race champion's move to Movistar in 2021, the Dutchness is maintained.

"With Annemiek leaving the team, the team will lose a really strong rider, but not a strong team spirit," Tenigro added.

"There is a lot of potential in the team and I'm really looking forward to seeing my teammates step up."

Meanwhile, Ensing was a new addition to the team in 2020, and the 34-year-old quickly adjusted to her new teammates, but her season was further curtailed when she broke her collarbone in a crash at the Clasica Femenina Navarra shortly after returning to racing midseason.

"I feel very happy in this team. 'In my first year, both at COVID-19 and when I was injured, the contact with the riders and staff was familiar.'

"Being a part of Mitchelton Scott is really great. They ride as a team and have given me a lot of confidence throughout the season." [The last two years have been bad luck for me. Hopefully next year I will be able to show what I am capable of and next year I will have a different rider on the team and get more podiums."

Sport director Martin Vestby added of the contract extensions with the team's two Dutch riders: "Monique and Janneke have been plagued by injuries this year, but they are strong support riders for the team."

"They have been very good riders for the team.

"They have experience in races that are important to us and have knowledge of how to race.
