Rally Cycling Adds Bemis, Breck, and Ray to Women's Team

Rally Cycling has added three new athletes to its women's team for the 2021 campaign, Madeline Bemis, Olivia Ray, and Holly Breck. Rally Cycling recently added 31-time national junior national champion Katie Crews.

Leaving the team are Chloe Hosking, who is moving to Trek Segafredo, Megan Jastrab, who is moving to Sunweb, and Sarah Bergen and Alison Beveridge, who have not yet decided to move to another team. Within the next few days, the team will announce the 11th player to complete next year's roster.

"The new additions will complement the hard work and dedication already established by our existing core riders. We look forward to them fully integrating into the team and continuing the momentum into 2021," said sport director Joanne Kiesanowski. [Olivia and Madeline are accomplished athletes, not only on the collegiate racing scene, but also at the elite level. We are confident they are ready to excel in the 2021 international campaign. It feels great to welcome Holly back to the UCI team. She is a great team player and will be a positive addition to a unit that has already established cohesion over the last few seasons."

Ray ran in the varsity division at Georgia's Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019, sweeping three U.S. collegiate road titles and collecting six collegiate track medals (four of them gold) in the same year. Last week, the 22-year-old won the women's title at the New Zealand National Criterium Championships and plans to showcase her sprinting talents with her new team.

"As soon as I came to the US for college in 2017, my coach at the time told me, 'If you do well, you can get on a proper American team like Rally,' and I thought, 'Oh, that's really cool.' A few years later, and here we are," Ray said in a team press release.

"My big goal for next year is to get to as many races as I can, learn as much as I can, and go to Europe.

Bemis, a 22-year-old from California, competed against Ray in collegiate competition while at Milligan College in Tennessee, where she placed second in the 2019 US Collegiate Road Race (Varsity). She is an all-rounder with mountain biking and road racing experience.

"I want to excel in time trials because my strength is holding consistent power. I've never actually owned a time trial bike, but I think I can excel at it if I work on my mental side. I'm also good in a support role, I can get my teammates to the bottom of climbs, pull back on the brakes when needed, and drive the brakes."

Bemis was named to the US National Team that competed in the 2019 Colorado Classic hosted by VF Corporation. She said she is looking forward to the international racing calendar now that she is part of a professional team.

"It's great to go back to a race like the Colorado Classic that I've competed in before and prove how much I've improved. I've never raced in Europe before, so I'll be elated at the opportunity. It's a big step up and this season will be a season of growing and learning."

Based in Southern California and raised on bike racing, Breck is an experienced sprinter who finished sixth in Denver's fourth stage of the Colorado Classic. The 28-year-old finished second in the 2017 San Dimas stage race while racing in the Sho-Air TWENTY20 twice.

"Racing for them has always been on my radar, and to finally get that chance feels kind of like home," Breck said. I like to be aggressive, so the harder the race the better for me. I'm versatile and I'm ready to pull my cards and do what I have to do."
