Brian Holm and Mads Pedersen to Own New Danish Continental Team

Brian Holm, Mads Pedersen, and Jan Beck Andersen are the owners of a new continental team to be registered in Denmark for 2021, Feltet.dk (opens in new tab) reports, and the team at Restaurant Sri-Kar Rath has revealed an 11-rider roster and plans to develop future talent.

The new ownership will be formed with Henrik Egholm, who currently runs the Danish national team Eiland Electric-Carl Ras, and he is expected to continue in his role as team manager following the promotion to a continental team, while Nicolaj Bo Larsen will take on the role of sports director.

The team stated that it plans to develop Danish cyclists who can compete at the World Tour level. Denmark currently has only two continental teams, ColoQuick and BHS-PL Concrete Bornholm, and a professional team in Riwal Securitas.

"Denmark currently has two continental teams, which is too few historically, and a problem that Denmark will see the results of in the coming years," the team wrote in a press release.7]

"Restaurant Sri Karl Rath, will help equalize this disparity so that Denmark's human resource development can be maintained at a high level."

The team also stated in a press release.

Pedersen is the 2019 road racing world champion and will race for his Trek-Segafredo until at least the end of 2022, and Holm is the sport director at Deceuninck-Quick Step.

"Henrik Egholm asked me if I would help with this project, but every old cyclist dreams of becoming a cycling team owner," Holm told Feltet.dk on Thursday.

"I like to go to the races in Denmark. And I go back to my roots. I've watched the Tour de France and all the great classics and seen how good they are. Now I think it's more fun to go cycling in Haslef."

Holm said he will continue to coach at the World Tour level with Dečuninck-Quick Step.

"I will continue with Deceuninck-QuickStep. If I decide to stop, I will stop. I'll stop," Holm said.

The roster includes Mathias Larsen of the Kometa Xstra Cycling Team, Rasmus Lund Pedersen of ColoQuick, Christian Lindquist of Synch-Giant, plus Sebastian Nielsen, Julius Nowak Dainer, Oscar Bluhm, Malthe Thyssen, Peter Busk, Markus Kramer, Andreas Larsen, and Nils Bradtberg.
