Beulah Hansgrohe is expected to be the next Lemko Evenpole, and has just landed a contract with Belgian talent Sian Uitdebroeks, who is the future of Belgian stage racing.
Many WorldTour teams were in negotiations with Uitdebroeks after he won the Coupe Brussel-Coone solo and other prestigious races in the summer of 2020. Uitdebroeks will join Germany-based Team Autoedel as a feeder team for Bora-Hansgrohe in 2021. Then, like Evenpoel, he will step up to the World Tour level in 2022 without racing under 23.
"After winning Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, I contacted almost every World Tour team," Uijtdebroeks revealed to Het Nieuwsblad, saying that he did not use an agent and negotiated his contract personally with the help of his family He said.
"There were different approaches to moving to a professional team and to my development. I had an immediate positive impression of Beulah Hansgrohe. They not only look at young riders physiologically, but they also have a very personal approach. Finally, I was also convinced that Team Haute Eder would make an effort to integrate me into the Bora-Hansgrohe structure."[7
Uitdebroeks revealed that he chose Beulah Hansgrohe after being impressed by performance manager Dan Rolland; during his four-year contract, his career goals are not set, and his development and future career will depend on how much he develops in his last years as a teenager. It will be determined by how much he grows during his last years as a teenager. He is already 1.83 meters tall and has grown 5 centimeters in the last six months.
"It's no secret that everyone was interested in Cian. His results are very good, and what's more, his performance data is particularly convincing," said Ralf Denk, team manager at Bora-Hansgrohe.
"I am personally very impressed with Cyan's attitude and very productive working relationship with his father-in-law. It quickly became apparent that we were all on the same wavelength. That is certainly one of the reasons he chose us"
.
"The other is that with Team Haute Eder, we will have an international junior team from 2021 onwards, allowing us to introduce talent early on into the Bora Hansgrohe structure. I am already quite excited to see where our shared journey will take us. In return, he will be given time to develop in a less pressured environment."
Yumbo Visma, Team DSM, Deceuninck Quickstep, and Israel Startup Nation all expressed interest in signing Uit de Brux. He attended Deceuninck Quickstep's summer camp in the Italian Dolomites, but chose to separate himself from fellow Belgian and potential future rival Evenpoel.
"It was a very difficult decision. But at Bora Hansgrohe I was convinced after the first meeting."
"I did an internship at Deceuninck - Quick -Step in July and then talked with Remco about my plans, but I didn't necessarily ask for advice. I just want to go my own way. I'm not trying to copy his trajectory 100%. That's for sure."
Uitdebroeks is still in school, but will attend Team Haute Eder's cross-country ski camp in late December and will join the pros in a more traditional training camp in the new year.
