The AG2R La Mondiale team has unveiled its new jersey for 2021. New title sponsor Citroen has added red to the traditional white and brown color scheme. [While Romain Bardet and Pierre Latour are leaving the team, Greg Van Avermaet and Bob Jungels, as well as team leaders Oliver Naessen and Benoit Kosnefrois, will wear the new kit.
The full name of the insurance company AG2R La Mondiale, which has supported the team for 20 years, appears on the front of the jersey, even though from January 1 it will be known simply as AG2R Citroën Team.
The team's signature brown coloring of recent years also remains, with the team wearing brown shorts and the AG2R La Mondial sponsor printed in brown. However, the blue has largely been removed, except for the AG2R La Mondial logo on the sleeves.
Instead, Citroen is painted in bold red not only on the sleeves and collar, but also on the front of the plain white jersey.
The title sponsor's striking diagonal design is also reflected on the back of the jersey.
On the chest is the logo of BMC, the new bike supplier that took over the bikes from Eddy Merckx, as well as the logos of kit manufacturer Rosti and the UCI World Tour. On both sleeves are the AG2R and Citroen logos.
The kit design took five months to create, as management and sponsors wanted to make a "bold" statement to mark the beginning of a "new chapter" for the team founded in 1992.
"The jersey unites the entire team, from the riders to the staff to the management team. It is also a visual rallying point for our fans. We are very proud of this result," said team manager Vincent Lavenu. Our graphic identity will evolve, but our core identity will remain the same. I can't wait to see our riders start racing in their new kits."
Laurent Barrier, Citroën's marketing and communications director, added, "The launch of the new identity and jersey for the AG2R Citroën team is a founding act in our collaboration."
." Its graphic design and bold typographic choices perfectly express our ambition in this partnership, which we imagine is promising on the roads of major international events."
AG2R Citroën is the third World Tour team to announce its kit for the upcoming season, following Detuning Quick Step and Trek-Segafredo.
