Logan Phippen (USA) joins Team Novo Nordisk.

Team Novo Nordisk has announced that it will enter the 2021 season with 17 riders from 12 countries on the UCI Pro Continental roster and an updated team kit.

Frenchman Lucas Doge and American Logan Phippen are new additions, promoted from the development team on two-year contracts. Veterans David Lozano, Andrea Peron, Charles Planet, and former Hungarian champion Peter Kushtor, who joined the team in 2019, will have their contracts extended.

Phippen had 14 top-10 finishes and two wins in 2018, with his best European result being 11th overall at the Tour of Bichhol (2.2). Doge is a sprinter and has a top 10 finish (1.2) at the Grand Prix de Verri this season.

The U.S.-based team had only 40 days in 12 races due to the Covid 19 coronavirus. Spaniard Lozano wore the mountains jersey for multiple stages at the Tour of Hungary, competing against five WorldTour teams. Before the lockdown began, Planet finished seventh in the Circuit de Getxo-Memorial Hermanos Occhia.

"Greece got off to a strong start with three riders finishing in the top 10. After the lockdown, it was significant that Charles (Planet) finished in the top 10 in Spain. But the teamwork at the Tour de Hongri was the highlight of my year. [They did everything they could to defend Davide's (Lozano) red jersey, which he lost in the tiebreaker on the final stage. That passion and hunger is why I am so proud of this team."

In 2021, a new bold yellow band will add a pop to the navy blue team kit, and the jersey will feature a "100" insignia celebrating the anniversary of the discovery of insulin 100 years ago. All of the athletes on Team Novo Nordisk race while living with diabetes.

"Aside from Covid-19, 2020 was a pretty amazing year. The biggest highlight for our organization was Novo Nordisk's extension of our partnership through 2023. We are incredibly proud to have such a great partner to continue changing diabetes around the world," Sutherland said.
