Cannondale renews contract with EF Education Nippon through 2023

Cannondale will extend its partnership with the EF Education Nippo team through the 2023 season, continuing a relationship with the American team that began in 2015 when Slipstream merged with Cannondale Garmin, which was renamed Cannondale from the former Liquigas ...

Currently sponsored by Education First and Nippo, CEO Jonathan Vaughters' World Team is working on both a full World Tour calendar and "alternative" events such as ultra-endurance races and gravel grinders.

The mix of events allows Cannondale to offer its brand in multiple disciplines, introduces new audiences to professional cycling and high-performance equipment, and allows teams to refine the details of their Cannondale bikes.

"Our ambition to build a larger community in cycling is in line with the spirit of EF Pro Cycling," said Jonathan Gerin, Cannondale's director of sports marketing.

"To be the world's favorite team, to race with character and heart, to change people's perceptions of bicycles, pro cycling, and riders.

EF Pro Cycling finished the 2020 season as the 10th-ranked team in the UCI world rankings, backed by Grand Tour stage wins by Dani Martinez, Jonathan Caicedo, Ruben Guerreiro, Michael Woods, Hugh Kersee, and Magnus Court. Carthy made the podium at the Vuelta a España, and Martinez also won the Criterium du Dauphiné.

During the coronavirus blockade, Lachlan Morton set the fastest times on the Kokopelli Trail in Utah and Colorado on his Cannondale Scarpell.

"At the core of our relationship with Cannondale is evolution and revolution. We want to make progress on the road and off-road, and ultimately continue to push the boundaries of the sport," said Vaughters. 'Working with Cannondale, we want to not only highlight the beauty of the sport at an elite level, but also make the sport more accessible.' We want more people to ride their bikes with a smile on their face."
