Team Bike Exchange has announced that it has signed Ane Santesteban for two more seasons, joining the Australian team from WNT-Rotor Pro Cycling a year ago and establishing himself as an important domestique this season.
"I'm really happy to be with the GreenEDGE family for two more years. I've found a really good group where everyone can give their best and I feel right at home on the team now."
A key support rider for teammates Grace Brown and Amanda Spratt last season, Santesteban finished second in the Spanish national championship road race and third in the general classification of the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche and third in the general classification of the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche.
"I think the season went well and we made great progress towards the end of the year.
A climber by trade, Sant'Esteban has racked up impressive results over the years: in 2020, she finished seventh overall in the Giro d'Italia International Feminaire, and in the same year, in the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, she finished second to Demi Vollering (then Parkhotel Valkenburg) and Anna van der Breggen (then Boels Dormans) to win the mountain prize.
"We are very happy to continue working with Ane for the next two seasons," said team general manager Brent Copeland. Ane just joined Green Edge Cycling last year and has quickly adapted to our team spirit. We have high expectations for her and believe that her experience and traits make her one of our riders who can deliver important results in many races throughout the year."
[12Plagued by injuries to its star rider and the departure of Annemiek van Fruten to Movistar this season, Team Bike Exchange looked to bolster its team by acquiring Georgia Baker, Alexandra Manley, and 22-year-old Ruby Roseman= Gannon were acquired.
