Garcia Cortina's Canyon Air Road CFR stolen in Girona

Iván García Cortina was the victim of bicycle theft in Girona, Spain, and is seeking witnesses on Canyon Air Road.

The Movistar rider announced on social media that his bike was taken in the northeastern Spanish city of Catalunya on Friday.

He has an idea who the culprit is and believes it is a "middle-aged man" who took his bike while parked during a coffee break during a training ride.

Cortina posted a video of his training ride in Girona on Friday morning on his Instagram page.

However, a subsequent post included a photo of the old bike with the caption "Stolen in Girona."

"If anyone sees it, please contact me," he added.

In a separate post, Cortina's partner, fellow cyclist Carla Nafria de Miguel, provided further details, explaining that the bike had a Cordel bar bag, a Silca saddlebag, and a rear light shaped like an "egg," a Spanish slang term for a testicle

"The bike had a light in the shape of an egg.

"We think it was a middle-aged man who stole the bike," she said, adding that it was probably stolen while Cortina was enjoying a coffee break near the Oniria Café in the center of Girona.

Cortina is not the first professional to have her bicycle stolen in recent weeks. Geraint Thomas had his Pinarello Dogma F stolen last month on the French Riviera.

The former Tour de France champion had to take a cab home, but was reunited with his bike later that day after making a similar appeal on social media.

Cortina, a classic rider and fast finisher, had a disappointing first season with Movistar after moving from Bahrain Victorious. He showed great potential early in his career and was an important part of the Spanish team's plans for 2021, but failed to win in his debut campaign.
