Trinity Racing has decided to appoint Thomas Grogg and Luke Lamperti to its U23 team for the 2022 season.
The UK-based team is currently in Spain for its first winter training camp and is putting together its initial plans for the upcoming season. Specialized recently decided to supply the bikes again, and the U23 riders were fitted for their new machines while in Spain.
Specialized has supported the development of WorldTour talent over the past few years, including Tom Pidcock, Ben Turner, and Ben Healy.
"It's great to get the whole team together to get to know the new riders, build team spirit, and, importantly, discuss our goals and aspirations for 2022 with each of them," said team manager and former Team Sky athlete Ian Stannard.
"We were unable to have a training camp this year due to the pandemic. This year, training on the bike and then in the team car has been very rugged for me, but also a lot of fun. These training camps are a great way for me to get closer to the team to share my experiences."
While two riders stand out on the road, 20-year-old British rider Grog and 18-year-old American rider Lamperti, the team has a mountain bike Junior World Champion Adrián Boichis and Camilo Gómez, who finished second in the World Championship junior race, are also signed. [Team owner and founder of the Trinity Rider Agency, Andrew McQuaid, said, "Owning this team is something we are really proud of as an agency. "Owning this team is something we are really proud of as an agency. We've been able to create a great environment for young riders to learn under the guidance of an experienced staff that has worked at the elite level. Hosting the camp is an ideal opportunity for them to get to know each other." McQuaid acknowledged that two former riders, Philippe Dayagnan and Peter Kennaugh, whom he also represented, attended the December camp to share their knowledge with the young riders; Healy, who signed a two-year contract with EF Education Nippon through 2022 also attended. The riders were fortunate to learn not only from Ian Stannard, but also from experienced former professionals with whom TSM has worked closely over the years, such as Philippe Daignan and Peter Kennaugh. We were also happy to have Ben Healy, who graduated from WT in 2022, join us at Winter Camp. The fact that someone who had a similar experience to them a year ago is training alongside them going to WT shows that WT is attainable for them as well." The 2022 roster is a very exciting mix of riders, both road and MTB, and we are very excited to have Ben Healey and his team at the camp," said Jennifer Harris, the WT's Director of Training. We are especially excited to have two new MTB men's riders on the team who finished 1-2 at this year's Junior World Championships to help them make the step up to the U23 ranks."
