Team Bike Exchange Names Weening and Hoffman as Sport Directors

Starting next season, Team Bike Exchange, which will bear the Jacobbrand name, will add two new sporting directors, Pieter Weening and Tristan Hoffman, to the 2022 men's WorldTour team.

Weening may be new to the role, but he raced with GreenEDGE Cycling, the Australian team's stable identity for four seasons until the end of 2015, and one of his two Giro d'Italia stage wins

"I am really looking forward to working with GreenEDGE Cycling again. Knowing so many of the riders and so many of the staff is a big advantage for me," Weening, who retires from professional racing in 2020, said in a team statement.

"It is truly an honor for me to work with such a great and large team."

Hoffman raced professionally for 14 years, finishing second in Paris-Roubaix, and has more than a decade of experience as sport director, from High Road to Bahrain-Merida.

"I really like the culture of Green Edge Cycling and the way they race. They are always aggressive and of course I want to win more and win big races.

"I've been sport director for 15 years and this year 2021 was kind of a sabbatical. Cycling is my passion and I love being involved, so I am very happy to be part of Green Edge Cycling."

The two sport directors join two new riders from the Netherlands, with Jan Maas stepping up to the World Tour level with the team in 2022 and Dylan Groenewegen making a late move from Jumbo Visma.

Sprinter said at the time of the move that the opportunity was too good to pass up, but that he might miss the Dutch people around him and the Dutch mentality.

"In welcoming Dylan Groenewegen to the team, it is appropriate for us to add two new Dutch sporting directors.

." So we are excited to have them both on board and working with us to achieve our big goals for the 2022 season."

said Brent Copeland, general manager of Team Bike Exchange.
