UAE Women's National Team Announces Sponsors, 2022 Jerseys, and Registered Members

The newly formed UAE women's team announced its entire roster Thursday, unveiled its 2022 jersey, and named title sponsor ADQ.

ADQ is a $100 billion rapidly expanding sovereign wealth fund and the emirate's third largest investor.

UAE Team ADQ was formed after the UAE Team Emirates Men's World Tour team took over the Ale BTC Ljubljana team. They have nine riders, including top-ranked Spanish rider Mavi Garcia and former world champion Marta Bastianelli.

Newcomers include two Italian riders, Erika Magnardi and Sofia Bertizzolo, and the first female rider from the UAE to join the World Tour, Safiya Al Sayegh. Switzerland's Linda Zanetti and Russia's Maria Novorosskaia will be joined by 2021 Junior Time Trial World Champion Alena Ivanchenko.

The UCI last week approved UAE team ADQ to compete in the Women's World Tour.

The 2022 jersey is a cross-body fade from blue to orange, "inspired by the Emirate's stunning and breathtaking sunsets," according to the team.

Under the direction of former Swiss national team member Rubens Bertogliati, the team had 15 riders, with Fortunato Laccaniti as sports manager and Giuseppe Lanzoni, Michele Devoti, and Gorazd Penko as direction sportifs.
