Aloyabe, hit by a car while training, lacerated, bike broken.

Daniel Arroyave (EF Education-Nippo) was hit by a car driver during a training ride on Tuesday in the Antioquia region of Colombia.

According to news outlet Wieleflits, the 21-year-old was hit while riding with two other cyclists. Photos posted on social media show Aroyabe sitting on the grass with his helmet and shoes off, holding his right elbow. His bicycle also showed significant damage, with the frame broken into pieces.

"I'm glad it's nothing serious. I'm fine. Just a laceration from the accident," Arroyave said in a video message. I would ask drivers to be more aware of cyclists and people on foot." [Today it was me, tomorrow it could be someone else and a life could be lost. Equipment can be replaced, but lives cannot. I want to urge people to look out for one another. We all share the same path."

The extent of his injuries is unknown at the time of writing, other than his personal assessment of "some lacerations," and details about his two passengers are also unknown.

The young Colombian rider has just finished his first two years of work at EF Education-Nippo, where he placed fourth in the mountain class at the Tour de Pollogne; two years ago he placed fifth in the under-23 individual time trial at the All-Japan Championships and the following year he won the U23 road race title.
