Campenaerts Hosts Charity Drawing for Pro Riders Jersey to Benefit Qhubeka

Victor Kampenaerts organized an online raffle of fellow pro riders' jerseys to benefit the Qhubeka charity, which has distributed over 100,000 bicycles throughout Africa.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that the Qhubeka NextHash World Tour team will disband after Doug Ryder was unable to find a sponsor for 2022, and team management informed the riders and staff.

Campenaerts will return to Lotto Soudal in 2022, but with donations from riders such as Mathieu van der Pol, Wout van Aert, Julien Alaphilippe, and Remco Evenpol, the raffle was held on behalf of charity and Qhubeka The event concluded the two seasons.

Eighteen jerseys will be available and tickets are on sale until December 27. Attendees can enter a drawing for a jersey of their choice from thevandal.be (opens in new tab) by donating 5 euros.

Jerseys on offer include the Alaphilippe and Van der Pol rainbow jerseys, the Belgian champion jersey donated by Van Aert, the Deceuninck-Quickstep skinsuit owned by Even Paul, the 1996 World Championships in Lugano and the Belgian national jersey worn by Johan Museeuw when he won the 1996 World Championships in Lugano.

Campenaerts raffled off one Qhubeka-NexHash jersey, and Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo), Tige Benoot (DSM), Thomas de Gendt (Lot Soudal), and Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Phoenix) are also among the riders donating jerseys.

According to Sporza (opens in new tab), "South African organizations are close to my heart," Campenaerts said. 'They buy bicycles for children going to school.'

"To support Qhubeka, we set up a lottery with apparel brand The Vandal. We asked many of our fellow riders to raffle off shirts and they graciously accepted. We didn't have to convince a single rider."
