January 1 marks the start of the 2022 season and, according to UCI regulations, the first day that new riders from each team can officially wear their new kit. [Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Elia Viviani (Ineos Grenadiers) showed off their 2022 kits.
Bennett returns to Bora after two years with Quick Step, while Viviani returns to Ineos after four years with Quick Step and Cofidis.
Both Ineos and Bora unveiled other newcomers in their new kits, including promising neo-pros Ben Turrett and Luke Plapp on the British team and new GC-men Alexandre Vlasov and Sergio Igita on the German team.
UAE Team Emirates also unveiled images of newcomers, including sprinter Pascal Ackermann and GC men Joao Almeida and George Bennett, in their new 2022 kits. The 2022 jerseys are largely unchanged, except for the redesigned UAE flag on the chest.
Astana Kazakstan also released a short video introducing Vincenzo Nibali, Miguel Angel Lopez (both returning to the team in 2022), and Gianni Moscon. Quick Step Alpha Vinyl also posted images of new players such as Stan Van Trijt, Ilan Van Wilder, Ethan Vernon, and Luis Verweke in their new kits.
Finally, Tiesj Benoot, the newest member of Jumbo Visma, who joined the team after being released from his contract early from Team DSM, posted an image on Instagram of himself in his new yellow jersey.
