Team Cofidis has revealed that it has redesigned the white and red jerseys for the 2022 World Tour men's team and the newly launched Continental women's team. The jerseys were designed in conjunction with sponsor Van Reisel and are intended to be "a jersey that breaks from the norm while maintaining the team's unique DNA."
"As we announce our first year of partnership with the UCI WorldTour Cofidis team, we wanted to create a jersey that breaks from the norm while maintaining the team's unique DNA," a statement on Van Reizel's website reads.
"We wanted to create a dynamic design that would use traditional Cofidis colors but still match our calm and elegant style."
The team's race jerseys are white from shoulder to chest, with a distinct red along the torso with Cofidis, the title sponsor, vertically.
The bright yellow sun that is part of the Cofidis corporate logo has been moved to the back and replaced by a black sponsor logo on the front of the jersey, combined with black shorts for "stronger impact."
"For the racewear, we dared to remove the yellow from the Cofidis identity and focused on three colors for a stronger impact: red, black, and white. The training wear pays homage to the yellow, making it more visible and thus increasing rider safety," the statement said.
"The Cofidis logo was reversed vertically on the front and back and oversized. This made the jerseys stand out in the peloton and stand out from the rest of the team.
"The Cofidis logo has no sun on the front to emphasize its very sober and modern typography. On the back, the sun is placed to represent the back of the players."
"The sun is also present on the back of the logo.
Cofidis announced last spring that the Cofidis Group intends to extend its partnership with the cycling program until 2025, have a long-term commitment to the paracycling program, and increase the budget of the men's WorldTour team by €1.5 million annually, as announced.
The team will also launch a women's team with a continental license, supported by a budget of €1 million in the first year. This team will also benefit from the organization and infrastructure of the men's program.
The team is led by Pernille Mathiesen and Clara Koppenburg, Rachel Neylan, Gabrielle Pilotte-Foltan, Sandra Levenez, Sedrine Kervaor, Martina Algini, Alana Castric and Valentine Fortan, 10 players, including Olivia Onesti, and the appointment of Gael Le Berg as sports director.
