The jersey design and color scheme for Laurent Cogeas Edelweiss, who will debut on the Women's World Tour later this season, was unveiled Friday.
Scalloped motifs in magenta and red give the upper half of the new jersey a multi-dimensional look, switching to a plain navy blue from chest to hem. The shorts are plain navy blue with black leg bands. The team called it a "new skin" in a Facebook post and announced the new look on their social media channels.
Previously registered as Kogeas Mettler at the Russian Continental level, the team raced in solid red jerseys and black shorts. The team, now based in Switzerland, used the brand logo of Swiss food company Roland on the front panel and sleeves of its jersey and on both legs of its bib shorts. Cogeas, an insurance and financial brokerage firm, is also a secondary sponsor on both the jersey and shorts.
Roland Cogeas Edelweiss is one of six teams granted a Women's World Tour license by the UCI for the 2022 season, when the top league is expanded to 14 teams. Edelweiss became the first Swiss team to reach the pinnacle of women's cycling.
A team camp is scheduled for February, prior to the start of the Women's World Tour calendar on March 5 in Strade Bianche.
The 11 confirmed players on the roster are six from the 2021 team, including three-time Olympian Olga Zabelinskaya of Uzbekistan. She finished 17th overall at the World Tour-level Vuelta a Burgos Feminas and 11th in GC at the Tour de Suisse. The team includes Petra Stiasny, a 20-year-old Swiss mountain bike champion, and Aline Seitz, a five-time Swiss junior road race title winner.
Of note is two-time world champion Amber Neben, who has not yet decided to enter the 2022 road race. The American rider was recently selected to compete in the off-road Lifetime Grand Prix series, which she describes as "a fun post-Olympic challenge."
