Rohan Dennis talks about why he moved from Ineos Grenadiers to Jumbo Visma.

Rohan Dennis explained his decision to move from Ineos Grenadiers to Jumbo-Visma for 2022, claiming that the new team was technically superior and that Ineos was "imitating Jumbo in many ways."

Dennis did not attend the Jumbo-Visma presentation in Spain after traveling to Australia on vacation, but spoke via video message recorded after the session in the wind tunnel before traveling to the southern hemisphere.

"There are a lot of things that are going really well with the team." Dennis said. 'When I was at Ineos, I noticed they were imitating Jumbo. And I thought: why would I want to be on a team that imitates the team on the other side of the fence?

"Why not join that team and be on the front foot instead of the back foot? So basically, I want to move here because technically it's a good team. It looks like a great system

"I'm back to where I was at Rabobank in 2011, half-starting. It's a little different because it was a conti team. But it's a good transfer and I'm really looking forward to it. Usually in this sport there are one or two teams that are really pushing to find the 1 percent or 5 percent.

Former time trial world champion Dennis, described by team director Merijn Zeeman as a "dream asset," is already a member of Jumbo Visma with Primoš Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard, Sepp Kuss, Steven Kruijswijk, Wout van Art and others have already secured a spot on Jumbo Visma's Tour de France team.

Dennis played a key role in helping Tao Geoghegan Hart win the 2020 Giro d'Italia, but his last race at the Tour de France was a mess, and he quit the race mid-stage and never raced again in Bahrain-Merida. He later explained that he quit racing to save his sanity as his marriage and mental health slowly deteriorated.

Zeman believes that Jumbo Visma can provide Dennis with a better physiological and psychological environment and help him blossom. Dennis seems pleased that he is considered a "dream competitor," but he avoids putting extra pressure on himself.

"It's a little bit of pressure when you get labeled. It's not that I don't like pressure, it makes me realize my importance in the team."

"I don't just come here to have fun. I'm here to work and I'm here to keep performing. It's one of the things I've worked hard to get to this point in my professional career, and even before that. Being one of the best riders in the world has always been my goal."

Dennis hopes to compete in the 2022 Tour de France with Jumbo-Visma.

"My big goal with the team is to be in the Tour de France. It's a huge race, it's a circus, and I want to be part of a team that has a chance of winning."

"I want to help the team to beat my old friend Tadej [Pogachar]. I like him, but he's my enemy."

Dennis will make his debut in 2022 at the Australian road championships and the Santos Festival of Cycling in his hometown of Adelaide, replacing the Tour Down Under, a World Tour race, before returning to Europe for the rest of the 2022 season.
