Garmin has introduced the Fenix 7 smartwatch, the latest addition to its lineup of cycling-oriented smartwatches.
Building on the success of the Fenix 6, the Fenix 7 offers all the features of its predecessor, plus improved battery life and an all-new mode for recording stamina. In addition, the additional Fenix 7X model has a built-in torch that provides a hands-free light for quick access.
The Fenix 7 is the next generation of Garmin's flagship model, a rugged multisport smartwatch designed to help wearers improve their athletic performance. The new model adds button controls to the touchscreen interface and intuitive topographic maps for off-grid navigation.
The new Fenix 7 includes all 6 features, including Recovery Time Advisor and Daily Workout Suggestions. The biggest new feature is a real-time stamina tool that allows athletes to monitor and track their exertion levels during a run or bike activity. According to Garmin, the tool provides an indication of energy levels remaining, so they can see how much they can push themselves to the finish line.
In addition to this, another new feature is the visual race predictor, which takes into account past training to predict progress.
Just as the Sapphire solar model was added to the Fenix 6, the new Fenix 7 series includes the solar-ready Fenix 7X. With an increased surface area, this model has 200 percent more solar harvesting capacity than the Fenix 6. As a result, Garmin claims that the new Fenix 7X can be charged even longer between charges than its predecessor, with a claimed battery life of up to five weeks in "smartwatch" mode and up to five days in GPS mode.
It also has a built-in hands-free multi-LED flashlight with both red and white LEDs for a variety of uses.
There are five models in total: Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Solar, Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar, Fenix 7S Sapphire Solar, and Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar. [Priced at £599.99 / $699.99 / 699. 99 EUR / 1,049.00 AUD and are available now directly from Garmin (opens in new tab).
